My trusty Envy 15 is getting old. So I have been looking around to price upgrades XO

Whilst there are these

http://www.alienware.co.uk/

at inflated prices I thought I would go for more bang for my book and found these

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/vortexII-15/

which suit my pocket more.

It is just a mighty shame that the Asus G74 is so overpriced ATM. I have of course got the Jan sales as a last resort.

Gotta love the research required to buy a new system.
I'm not familiar with these websites that service the UK, but I have always trusted Cyberpower (Cyberpowerpc.com) when I buy a new system, especially because of all of the sales and promotions they have. I know they ship to that side of the Atlantic, but I'm not sure of the price. At least you can use them to price components.

But yeah, Alienware, while shiny, isn't really feasible price wise.
Good luck in your hunt. I'll be doing the same for a new Desktop soon *:| .

Alienware ceased to be optimal when it was bought by Dell. Dell designs their machines to be nearly impossible to modify or upgrade (because they want you to get another machine.) They actually put extra screws in their machines to make it hard to put in a new video card, and they make it hard to find info on how to even upgrade memory.

So not only are alienware machines overpriced, they're overrated, too. 'Course I'm talking about the PCs, I guess.

Toran's recommendation is good - CyberPower is generally top-rated as a gaming PC, dunno how they rate for notebooks. (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com )

good buys for gaming notebooks include the surprisingly low-priced Gateway ID49C13u, and HP dv7t Quad or HP Envy 14
